  Growing up in Finland I was very much influenced by the environment. Living in harmony with nature and a love of the outdoors are integral parts of the Finnish culture. The delicate balance with nature challenges us to be creative with our choices. When I immigrated to Canada, I realized how the different cultural backgrounds exhibited in this country influenced the design schemes, and since then I have focused on creating designs that everyone here can appreciate. My background is in visual merchandising. For the past thirty years I have continued to educate myself in design in order to better understand the needs of my clientele. I have expanded from visual merchandising to interior and exterior designs, photo shoot styling and outdoor projects. I recently redecorated the Finnish Ambassador’s residence in Ottawa with Mission style furniture. Loblaws frequently contracts me to create innovative merchandising ideas for their floral department. At Christmas time I design and supervise
the seasonal decorations at Imperial Oil headquarters and at Inn on the Park hotel in Toronto. |
